Our Executive Team

The members of our Executive Team are responsible for the implementation of the Authority’s Strategic Plan and the day-to-day operations of YYC Calgary International Airport and Springbank Airport (YBW).



Robert (Bob) Sartor
President & CEO  

Bob Sartor joined The Calgary Airport Authority in January 2017 as President and CEO. Bob graduated from Concordia with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1979 and obtained his CA designation in 1981. Bob articled with Coopers & Lybrand in Montreal and, in 1983, moved to Vancouver where he worked in the Insolvency Department of Coopers & Lybrand. In late 1985, Bob was recruited to Kraft Canada and returned to Montreal where he was first the Manager of Capital Investment Analysis, then Assistant Controller and ultimately, Treasurer. Bob attended the Columbia University International Business Program while at Kraft. In 1988, Bob was again recruited, this time to Halifax, to act as CFO of a food wholesaler/retailer that was in financial difficulty. This began a career that saw Bob and his family move to Toronto (Oshawa Foods) and Calgary (The Forzani Group), both turnarounds. At The Forzani Group, Bob joined as the CFO in 1997 and, in early 2000, became President before ultimately becoming CEO in 2004. In late summer 2011, The Forzani Group was sold to Canadian Tire. In early 2012, after a brief flirtation with retirement, Bob joined Big Rock Brewery in Calgary as President and CEO.   


Bernie Humphries

Bernie Humphries
Vice President, Operations  

Bernie Humphries is responsible for Airport Operations, Airfield Operations, Security, Safety, Facilities Management and Springbank Airport. Bernie graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1982 with a degree in Business Administration. He has worked in the airport business since 1983, originally with Transport Canada in Winnipeg and then with the Saskatoon Airport Authority. He joined The Calgary Airport Authority in 1996. Bernie is an Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) and is Past Chair of the International Association of Airport Executives – Canada. Bernie joined the Executive Team in 2008.



Mike Maxwell
Vice President & Chief Information Officer  

Mike Maxwell is the senior leader responsible for systems, technology and information management. Mike has several years of experience leading technology solutions in the airport industry for Minneapolis/St Paul and Halifax International airports. He has also led technology innovation and operations for other industries such as manufacturing, broadcasting, high tech and retail. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Computer Science and Mathematics. Mike joined The Calgary Airport Authority in 2016 as Vice-President and Chief Information Officer.



Marco Mejia
Vice President, Infrastructure

Marco Mejia is responsible for airport planning, engineering, and construction. He joined the Calgary Airport Authority in 2010 and has held various roles within the Planning and Engineering department, most recently as the Director, Engineering and Construction. His previous experience is in heavy civil, infrastructure, and high-rise construction. He has worked as a Project Manager on The Bow project in Calgary, supervised the construction of the new Quito International Airport in Ecuador, and coordinated construction activities at Toronto Pearson International Airport. Marco is a registered Professional Engineer with APEGA, and has a BSc in Civil Engineering. Marco joined the Executive Team in January 2014.



Robert Palmer CPA
Vice President, Finance, & Chief Financial Officer  

Robert Palmer is a senior finance leader with over 15 years of financial management and accounting experience across multiple industries, including aviation, real estate, consumer packaged goods and technology. Rob is responsible for all aspects of Finance, including accounting, treasury, reporting, insurance, and procurement and contracts. Rob is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba. Rob joined the Calgary Airport Authority in 2016 as Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer.



Cynthia Tremblay
Vice President, Human Resources  

Cynthia Tremblay is an active HR professional with over twenty years’ experience in the profession in a variety of industries including health care, insurance and airport administration. Cynthia is responsible for all aspects of HR including: labour relations, organizational development, total rewards, talent management and culture. Cynthia obtained her Commerce Degree from the University of Alberta and is a Certified Human Resources Professional and a Certified Compensation Professional. She is a member of the Human Resources Institute of Alberta and World at Work and volunteers in a number of community organizations. Cynthia has been a member of the Executive Team since 2004 and became a Vice-President in 2013.
